Western Tatra Mountains

Western Tatra Mountains cover the area of 400 km². The ridge is 37km long.

The western part is created by limestone group of Sivý vrch and limestone Červené vrchy end in the east. Western Tatra Mountains comprise 6 geomorphology groups: Osobitá, Sivý vrch, Liptovské Tatry, Roháče, Červené vrchy and Liptovské kopy.

 

Some of the most popular tourist resorts in Western Tatra Mountains are: Pribylina, Podbanské, Žiarska dolina, Račkova dolina, Zverovka and Oravice.

 

Tourists like to visit the prettiest and the most attractive part of Western Tatra Mountains-  Roháče range. This range is named after wildly rugged peaks Ostrý Roháč (2084 m) and Plačlivé (2126 m).
